Day 1 - 2015 - CALLING

While shopping recently, I browsed through the book section.  Several of the covers caught my attention:

GOD IS CALLING!

Is God calling to me? Does this mean I need to STOP ... and LISTEN for His voice?

Is God trying to tell me something?  What would He be calling me to do; or what is it that I need to know?

Sometimes, I wish He would just pick up the phone and call me instead of leaving me to figure it out for myself.  That would be so much easier; just answer the phone ... and HE would be there on the other line!

But, God does call us in many ways such as the covers of those books I saw!  He calls to us through His Word; in the words of the music we listen to; in the books we read; through the words or actions of other people; even in the world around us!

Today, He spoke to me in the words of another blogger - or two!  The words came at just the right time when I needed to hear them...and brought tears to my eyes, and a changed heart!  Oh, to be able to remember those feelings every day, Lord!

When we do hear God calling, in whatever way He chooses to do so, how are we to know for sure it is God calling to us?  Do we really listen to His voice; to what He is saying to us?

And, when we do hear God calling ... do we head right out and do as He had asked of us?

If we are grounded in the Word of God, and in His teachings, we are more likely to know His "voice" when He calls ...

And, if we listen closely enough to the voice we hear, He will call us by name; He will show us His way; He will lead us down the path He wants us to take!

  1. Powerful post, Barbara....I definitely agree that once we learn how He speaks, we can fine tune ourselves to hear Him. Looking forward to reading the rest of your 31 days, my lovely....Helen xx

    1. Thank you for stopping by, Helen! I wasn't sure I would do this again this year; but with the Five Minute Friday "free writes", it's just a matter of writing from the word given ...much like the Blog-tember I just did, and the Fab-ruary I did (thanks to you!)

  2. Beautiful post. And you're right, when I spend more time in my Bible and in prayer, I hear him more clearly.

  4. I find the idea of God calling me by the phone interesting...

I'm praying that I will be able to listen to His voice more carefully.

    1. With all the noises around us, it is so hard to hear His voice clearly! Praying that you - we - DO hear His voice! And, yes, God calling by phone...perhaps it IS an interesting concept; but, it would be easier to know it's Him, wouldn't it?! Actually, I've "felt" God by phone when someone prayed with my by phone! So, I guess it isn't quite that odd!

Thanks for reading and leaving a comment!

  5. You speak truth, my friend. I would so love it if God called me on the phone, but I imagine that might be a little scary too!

    1. Well, I think it would be scary, Teresa..."Hello, this is God; may I speak with Barbara?" Yeah, that would be so scary!! But, He DOES speak to us through the phone in other people...I've had times in my life when a phone call, with a prayer from the person on the other end, has been such a blessing and needed at that very moment...

Thank so much for reading and commenting!
