Tuesday @ Ten - CHOICE

Time for another link up with my friend, Karen.  These posts really stretch my writing; sometimes, it's a bit hard to come up with what to write.  Other times, the words come quite easily.  But, I'm always relieved when I {finally} finish writing it!

Be sure to check out Karen's Facebook group for the Tuesday @ Ten followers here.

This week's prompt is:  Choice

We all have to make choices...

Everyday!

What will I wear today?

Where will I go?

What will I do?

How will I feel today?  Happy or Sad?

How will I react to others around me?

Yes, there are many factors that may come into play when we are dealing with others in our every day life.

But, we have the choice of how we will react to those persons - or that person!

The choices we make throughout our lives may - or may not - be the right choices.  But, we make the choices; and we must live with the consequences if those choices turn out to not be right - for us or for others.

Years ago, someone made a choice to implement something called, "Daylight Savings Time."  I'm sure it took more than just a random choice; but it affects all of us even now.

So far, I haven't found any of the time that has been {supposedly} been saved.  Perhaps, at one time, it was a good choice.

Take this weekend, for instance.  We set our clocks ahead one hour as we "spring forward"; we lose one hour of our day!

And, don't think that in the fall, when we "fall back" that we will find that lost hour of our day!

No!  It's just as hard - at least for me - no matter which way we change our clocks!

Now, I'm sure there was a valid reason someone had when the idea to implement "Daylight Savings Time" was chosen.  I'm sure it had some kind of a reason that was supposed to help; and now we all are living with the "consequence" of their choice.

But, for me?  I don't get it!!  And, so I am living with their choice and the consequence of losing time and not finding it again!

Now this may be stretching the "choice" vs. "consequence" a little; but we can see how the choices we make can affect others, sometimes for years and years!

{This is my opinion of "Daylight Savings Time" because I have so much trouble getting used to either way...but, I guess having more daylight in the evenings is an advantage!}

A big choice I made in my life was when I separated from, and divorced, my first husband.  That choice affected not only myself, but two children that were also separated from their father when we moved to another state.

Though I had {felt I had} a good reason for leaving, that choice, and the consequences, did not only affect me.  There were others affected, too.

Of course, they have overcome that choice I made so many years ago; but have dealt with the consequences most of their lives.

God made a choice many years ago to let His One and Only Son die on the cross...for us!

Those consequences?  They have allowed us to have life everlasting with our Heavenly Father because of the choice He made; a good choice for us.

All I can say is, "Thank you, God"!

Help me to make the right choices in my life...

Thank you for joining me on this weekly link-up for Tuesday @ Ten...though most weeks I end up writing later in the week!

My "choice" to delay writing is simply due to scheduling and pondering the word or the phrase.  The "consequence" is that I cut it very close to the week-long time frame for writing!!

  2. I got a laugh at what you said about Daylight Savings Time - you sounded just like my husband. I especially agree with your comments about the consequences of our choices. That's why it's so important to seek the Lord, especially when the choice is an important one. Good post, Barbara. Now I need to finish mine and get it posted before the deadline.

    1. Thanks for reading and commenting, Barbara! Glad I could make you laugh...as much as I enjoy the daylight longer in the evenings, I just can't seem to function.

    1. This is so true that you have no choice but to lose an hour of sleep; it's what I hate so much about this time-changing thing. We all just do the best we can with it, right?! Thanks for reading and commenting!
