The past two days have been spent in “looking back” through the years when we were discovering a medical
issue with my husband – dementia.
Looking ahead more information about his illness will be shared
along with more of our journey!
But for today, I wanted to take a break and share a poem I wrote titled “Memories”
– and what are memories if not for looking back to remember and share
them! I do a lot of sharing memories
through my creative outlet – scrapbooking!!
Why I am not sharing 31 Days of Scrapbooking is beyond me; but I know
that sharing my journey with Dementia’s Demands is needed – for me if not for
others out there as well!! Thanks for
journeying with me!
Memories
by Barbara London
Looking back –
See the faces –
The memories you hold;
Hear the voices –
The times you shared.
Looking back –
How young you were!
How beautiful and lively;
Your hair was dark;
Your eyes – they sparkled,
With the love within your heart.
Looking back –
See the faces;
Hear the voices;
Remember the good times –
And the bad.
These memories you cherish –
You hold within your heart –
Always,
And forever.
Hi, Barbara :). I'm so sorry you're going through this journey. Being a caregiver isn't easy--especially when you're struggling with memories of yesterday and a future that seems so different from what you ever imagined. May God be with you and strengthen you on your journey. (I found you on the 31 dayer FB page :) ).
ReplyDeleteThank you for checking out my blog! I appreciate your comment and encouragement. This is a first for me - sharing so openly on a public space. I hope you will continue to check out my posts and continue on this journey with me (and my husband)!

DeleteHi Barbara,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your heart with such honesty. Your poem is beautiful!
Thank you for your comment! I rarely share my poetry publicly; but felt this an opportunity to do so within my 31 days...it isn't easy opening up so completely, but it has certainly helped me and hope it helps others as well!
DeleteLovely poem, Barbara. It is a gift to be able to see the good in the bad.
ReplyDeleteGood luck in your journey,
Samantha

ReplyDeleteThanks again, my friend! As I stated above to someone, I rarely share my poetry in a public way but felt it fit. I'll be sharing more!
