Introduction to Another 31 Days!

Last year - September 2014 - I barely knew what a "BLOG" was; much less have one of my own!  Following the example of a friend, who created one to show sample scrapbook layouts and cards, I set one up...just for the fun of it!

A few days later, I read about a challenge for October - "write31days".  The idea was to choose a topic and write every day for the whole month!

Well, that would surely take some planning!

So, I pulled out journaling, research and poems that I had previously written over the past 10 or so years, as we traveled on our "journey with dementia".  The topic found, I managed to create a "button" and get it linked properly - something new for me - again!

And I managed to write a post every day with the title, "31 Days of Dementia's Demands"!

Through persevering for that month-long writing challenge, my passion for writing was born - or "re-born" since I have been writing different things for many years; I had just never done any blogging!

It is now a year later, and I have over 300 posts!  That number will increase because ...

... I have signed up to "do it again", Five Minute Friday style!  Following along with Kate Motaung and the FMF group, we will use the word prompts for "Free Writes" ... writing every day for five minutes only!

So "31 Days of Free Writes" is my topic for the 2015 series; I should be able to get that done!!  In fact, we already have the word prompts in advance (except for the FMF days) and I have already started drafting out ideas.

So, check out Kate's blog for prompts and other information; and follow along

Not sure what this "write31days" is all about, check out the write31days.com website.

    1. At least it won't be as intense as last year's topic! But yet, some of that may filter into the words that I write about!

Thanks for reading my intro and commenting!

  4. Very cool! Why not stick with what works, right? I am a little sad that I won't be participating, but I know it's the right thing for me in this season and as a perk I really get to focus on all the great reading to be had!!!

    1. Yes, Natalie! I hardly have time for the reading; I seem to be on the computer all the time. Guess it's a good thing I am retired! And, I admire that you said "NO" and are OK with that.

I was able to finish the 31 days last year, but it wasn't without a few stresses. I was grateful I had a lot of journaling, poetry and research that I could share within the topic. This year will be a lot less stressful! And I have a headstart with about 6 ready to be posted!

    1. Yes, Karrilee! We have all the words already, except for the Fridays...so, I am excited to get back with writing the FMF way; and will TRY to stick with the Fridays once October is done!

Thanks for reading and commenting! I am excited about reading others' blogs - and hope since mine are pre-planned and only "5" minutes, maybe I'll have more time to read!

    1. Tara, I would not be doing it this year if it were not for the FMF free writes! I didn't really have a topic; am involved in several committees at church; and certainly didn't want the stress of coming up with posts...the FMF way is for me, at least for this year! And, who knows, maybe in years to come!!

  7. I was so tempted to do the free writes of FMF words. Maybe next year! xo

    1. There's always next year, Susan! And, there is still your regular posting! I will continue to be following all my friends that I've been following since last year. I am hoping my reading time will not be cut short due to the 31 days, but with writing "5" minutes, will have that time.

      Thanks for reading and commenting!

  8. I'm really looking forward to reading the free writes. They'll all be as individual as the writers but with the same underlying word. So cool! Can't wait.

    Is it October yet?

    1. Shelby, I am also excited! I have 5 or 6 already done...giving myself a bit of a head start. I will be gone from home this Sat. ALL day for a women's conference about 2 hours from here. Then the next weekend, from Thur. to Mon., I will be at a scrapbook retreat. So, I wanted to have these posts ready to schedule before the time gets away from me!

And, just a few more hours, it will be October!! I will be following yours!

      Thanks for reading and commenting!
