Linking up with
Time for another post with The Simple Woman's Daybook! Check out how things are going in "my little corner of the world":
FOR TODAY
September 17, 2015
Outside My Window: Can I repeat last week's? It is sunny outside; there is a slight breeze blowing; and I don't see any signs of rain - yet! The temp is around 80's, I think...and the evenings have been a bit cooler! I can't wait for cooler weather!!
I am Hearing: The whirring of the ceiling fan...and nothing else!
I am Thinking About: The tasks I have to complete for the various committees I am on. Today, my assignment is to get it all organized in a list so I know what I need to do for what committee (or event)!
I am Thankful for: The women of the Regional Board for the Disciples' Women's Ministry. I have been part of that board for a number of years; but have been off for the past few. Now, I am chair of the nominating committee, which means I "get to" attend the board meetings! What a wonderful, loving, up-lifting group of women!
I am Praying for: Our church and the task assigned to the Pastoral Search Committee of finding a new minister (another of the committees I am on).

I am Wearing: Jeans capris; a light blue shirt with darker blue flowers; my crocs...comfy! (Don't cheat and go back to see what I was wearing last week; yes, it's the same...and yes, they've been washed - a bit of humor this morning?!)
I am Creating: On paper, "designing" something I want to (try) to make for a friend! I have the idea; now to get it done!
I am Going: No place today; it is my "chore day" ... laundry, cooking, cleaning, whatever I can manage to get done - because I need to get a couple of posts written, too! And, also need to organize tasks for various committees and complete the treasure's report for one of them.
Tuesday: Grocery shopping in the morning; committee meeting in the evening.
Wednesday: Any additional shopping needed? Dinner at church and choir rehearsal. Last week choir was questionable! Then, a meeting was called for 6:00 pm; so I stayed for choir - and sang with them on Sunday morning...felt great; but my voice is still out of practice!
Thursday: Hang out with my daughter!
Friday: Nothing planned yet...
Saturday: Disciples' Women's board and general meeting; then a scrapbooking "Theme Crop". This month's theme is "Freedom".
Sunday: Church and lunch with the Sunday "lunch bunch", as I call the group of friends that head out for lunch after church!
I am Wondering: If I will do the "write31days" challenge this year. October is almost here; and if I do participate, I am going to do the Five Minute Friday "Free Writes". Are you "on the fence" as I am? Check it out!
I am Reading: Just finished reading "The House at Tyneford"; it was a very good book...passing it on to another reader friend!
And, grabbed the next book off the shelf yesterday! The book is "Into the Darkest Corner" by Elizabeth Haynes. Sounds like a good book and so far it is ... but the interesting things I noticed was in reading the information about the author on the back flap of the book:
"Elizabeth Haynes is a police intelligence analyst. She started writing fiction in 2006 with the annual challenge of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) and the encouragement of the creative writing courses at West Dean College. She lives in a village near Maidstone, Kent, with her husband and son. "Into the Darkest Corner" is her first novel. Check out her website here for more information.
I am Excited for: Several events that are coming up in the next few months; I'll list them out and talk more about them later!
* All-day theme crop - "Freedom"
* Grandparents' Tea at my grandson's preschool
* A Disciples' Women's event with Hispanic women
* The Puppy Crop weekend retreat
and that takes me to the second weekend of October...with more FUN to come!
I am Learning to: What am I learning?
In My Kitchen: Meat thawing so I can fix a one-dish meal (sounds better than Hamburger Helper, doesn't it?!).

I am Pondering: Same as I am wondering; but I need to "ponder" more so than "wonder"!
A Fave Scripture Thought: I am sure I have shared this particular scripture before; but here it goes again...because it's almost Wednesday, September 16th, which will be 17 years since...well! It's enough to remember the date!

"I love the Lord, because He has heard my voice and my supplications. Because He inclined His ear to me, therefore I will call on Him as long as I live. The snares of death encompassed me; the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me; I suffered distress and anquish. Then I called on the name of the Lord: 'O Lord, I pray, save my life!' " (Psalm 116:1-4 NRSV).
Yes, He saved my life; and I am here today to witness to His unfailing love and protection!

Top left: the group that met at The Retreat at Silver Springs, minus a couple that had to leave before we had our photo taken!
Bottom left: three of us look on as our Study Director "studies" the Jenga tower ... that tower stayed up a lot longer than we thought it would!
Top right: I am concentrating; what is that I'm saying?? Who knows!
Bottom right: the cross and communion table at our outdoor chapel.
And, that's all for this week's Simple Woman's Daybook!

Sounds like a nice day... praying for you and the Committee for finding a new Pastor! Rarely, if ever, an easy transition! (And don't you feel like you need to whisper type that you have no plans on a Friday? I tend to keep that open myself and it feels so luxurious!)
ReplyDeleteOh, yes...I would LOVE to keep that "no plans Friday"...but may end up scrapbooking...depends on how much I get done on Wed. and Thurs. Thanks for reading, and keeping our committee in your prayers!
DeleteThese posts are fun. A peak into your every day life. I think the prompts would be a fun way to do the 31 days.
ReplyDeleteThis is true; what I am doing for 31 days is the Five Minute Friday "Free Writes"...I have drafted the first...not very much yet; but I'll keep on 'til I have enough to feel relief that I'm not getting "behind"! I know; it's only 5 minutes; but with all the other stuff and other blog posts...
DeleteThanks for reading and commenting!
Such fun seeing another's day!
ReplyDeleteI do enjoy the Simple Woman's Daybook...at one time, I felt each week's post was so similar, that I started doing it every other week...well, each week is so different any more that I am posting every week. That may slow up when I'm posting every day for "write31days" challenge; but wait!! I AM writing every day for Blog-tember...well!!!
DeleteThanks for reading and commenting! It IS fun to see what everyone is up to!!
What a fun post format! And you ARE a busy lady!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE doing the Simple Woman's Daybook each week...and yes, I AM a busy lady! Sometimes I just want to roll over and go back to sleep; but if I've be awakened, I am not always able to get back to sleep...so I just get up. Oh well!
DeleteThanks for reading and commenting..
I'm doing the 31 days challenge again! It's a scary topic, but I feel like our journey may help others.
ReplyDeleteI agree...I had so much feedback last year; and felt that I at least helped a couple of people who read some of my posts. This year, FMF free writes is what is saving me!! I just didn't plan ahead for any other topic; and with my schedule and flexible babysitting, etc. well, it just worked this year!
