Fab-ruary 14th

Another day to link up with Helen at:

And to be challenged to "find the fab" in my life!

Today, the challenge is to share ...

My Self-Care Basket

What would my self-care basket contain?  Maybe something like this one:

To this basket I would have to add a few things:

          A good book
          My journal and a pen
          A Bible
A cup of tea (or a glass of wine)
          Some munchies!
          A candle and some matches
A small pillow - if I'm soaking in the tub, need to rest my
             head!

And I would have to take them some place quiet and peaceful...

         A cabin in the mountains
           or a bed and breakfast;
or a place by the beach.

The following list has a few wonderful self-care ideas!

Because, if we don't take care of ourselves, we won't be available to those who need us - our "significant others"; or children or grandchildren; our friends; our church...

and even God, who beacons us:

So, I am packing up my self-care basket and headed to that bed and breakfast for a refreshing rest!

What about you?  Where are you headed with your self-care basket?

  1. This is good stuff. You're so right: if we're not taking care of ourselves, it's really hard to care for others. Fab-ruary sounds like a great idea!

    1. Thank you Cindy! It has helped me to look for (and find) what's good about ME! Usually we focus on others so much that we can become lost in the shuffle!

      Thanks for reading and commenting!

    1. Definately overlooked, Karrilee! Sometimes I need a jump-start to what I want to say - and Pinterest is a great place to find things...plus, without a camera battery, I can't take actual pictures.

      Thanks for reading and commenting!

  3. We are headed to Florida for 9 days - I need some self-care RIGHT NOW. My white, dry skin needs some pampering. LOL

    1. Where are you headed?? I love visiting other places; but not a fan of the snow, except to LOOK at it!

  4. I love the idea of a self-care basket! I had never heard of the concept until a few years ago, but it is one that I firmly believe is so valuable and necessary for each of us. I may have to make up my own self-care basket for those times when I need to retreat. I'm actually contemplating an individual retreat far away from home so that I can engage in some self-care and try to renew my spirit. I hope you have a good time wherever you're headed!

    1. I had heard of them; in fact, when my daughter brought me to her house in 2011 after I was hospitalized for 2 weeks, she had put one together for me...everything I'd need like new tooth brush, tooth paste, shampoo, conditioner, etc. And, I remember visiting my sister-in-law and they had a basket in their guest bathroom with anything and everything a guest may have forgotten!

Yes, you DO need to take a time away for yourself!!

  5. I could definitely benefit from something like this! Thank you for all the great tips and the reminder that of why it's important to not overlook our own personal needs.
