Time for this week's link up with Karen Beth for Tuesday @ Ten where we have a full week to write on the word prompt that she provides.
This week's word is:
Not a Word;
But a Phrase!
Trying something a bit different this week, Karen has posted a phrase for us to use for our weekly prompt!
"I Write Because..."
So, here goes!
I write because I have things inside that I need to get out, to write about and share those feelings that need to be shared. Some are quite personal, and take some time to put into words; to even know if I want to share them. But, once I start, the words just seem to flow...and flow and flow!
I do write some quite "wordy" and lengthy posts! But, as I said, once I get started...!
There are still more words inside that I may one day share. I shared a lot of the personal things during my Write31Days challenge. In writing about the journey with dementia and my husband, a lot of my feelings flowed onto the screen...
And it felt GOOD to get them out!

And it felt GOOD to get them out!
So, the main reason I write would be because the things inside are no longer able to stay there. They need to get out and be shared...
Perhaps my words will be helpful to those who read them.
I love reading your reasons that you write. I think it is really interesting how many of us write for similar reasons. I hope that you have a lovely day!
ReplyDeleteIt's the connection, for sure!! Appreciate your reading and commenting!
DeleteIt has been so interesting to read why you write, Barbara, and I am sure that others will indeed be helped and inspired ... I envy the way in which the words seem to come with such ease!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Alexa! I started out blogging - for me - because I didn't think anyone would "like" or "get" what I was writing...I feel so connected and have had so many great comments from people who DID "get it". I continue to write for me; for God has given me that gift...and I continue to be amazed! Appreciate your reading and commenting!
DeleteI enjoy reading why you write. It seems many people need to get things out and writing is a great outlet for that.
ReplyDeleteYes Sandy! It used to be journaling; now I do that as well as the blogging. It does help to get things out!
DeleteThanks for reading and commenting!
I love your writing....love reading it......and it has helped me so many times...thank you xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment! I haven't really been writing much lately; but have been super busy...don't know what the summer will bring when we start doing a lot during the week AND weekends with the grandkids!
DeleteAppreciate your reading and commenting...glad that I have helped you with my writing (sometimes I am not sure if I ramble too much or if it really makes any sense!!!)...
Our ability to write is a wonderful gift.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, Romi! And I loved reading yours! It is a gift that we can share with so many people! Thanks for reading mine and commenting!
DeleteReally, when we have the freedom to write our truth it can be so liberating. Thank you for sharing your life with us.
ReplyDeleteYou are quite welcome, Orana! I appreciate your comment and your reading my posts! Keep writing; we all have sooooo much to say!
DeleteThose are wonderful reasons to write! I also write to get thoughts out of my head. Until recently, I wasn't sharing too many personal things but I have come to enjoy connecting with people who have similar thoughts and interests.
ReplyDeleteYes, this is true Michelle! I wasn't sure about sharing personal stuff either (although I am an open book to my friends! I think I share a lot about myself, sometimes I think it is too much but they assure me it is who I am and it is not too much!). I have found so many people that I connect with, and receive so many comments that are encouraging to me; they keep me writing even when the "likes" or comments are small...I don't write to add them up (but I do get excited when I reach a milestone, like so many "likes" on my facebook page, or so many posts on my blog).
DeleteThanks for reading and commenting...keep on writing and sharing!
That is the beauty of writing Barbara.. its free to write any way you choose :) .. thank you for being a part of my Tuesday at Ten and thank you for sharing your writing ... always lovely to read
ReplyDeleteThank you, Karen! You are a blessing to me - and MANY others, which is obvious from the number we have in the Together We {BLOG} group! Love the "daily" shares; the weekly Tuesday @ Ten; and this one with a phrase instead of just a word has been great...to write, to read others' words on why they write! Thank you for bringing us together for T@T, and for keeping us encouraged through the {BLOG} group!
DeleteAppreciate your reading and sharing...
