ACCEPTANCE

It's Tuesday - and that means...

Time for this week's link up with Karen Beth for Tuesday @ Ten where we have a full week to write on the word prompt.

This week's word is:

ACCEPTANCE

First, a look at the definition of acceptance from dictionary.com:

{noun}
1.    the act of taking or receiving something offered.
2.
favorable reception; approval; favor.
3.
the act of assenting or believing:
acceptance of a theory.
4.
the fact or state of being accepted or acceptable.

My first thought when I saw today's word was...

The Serenity Prayer:

Oh, to be able to accept things in this way!  Not exactly the way I usually look at it...

My inclination is to question why?!  To want to know why it happened "to me", and what I will do now that things have changed -

things that we cannot control...

such as losing your job - and you're already "too old" according to many employers.

So, serenity...

to accept...

the things I cannot change!

Looking back...

{I find myself doing a lot of that lately!}

I really did like my job; my co-workers (most of them!); my commute wasn't that bad; the hours were great - and no weekend work!

But, things have changed...

they changed the day I was told, "We are letting you go."

So, I accepted it because I couldn't change it!  But, I was't happy about it.  I was not serene (calm/not worried); oh, I definitely was worried!

But, eventually I learned to let it go...

...to let go of what I could not change...

to accept the fact that my life would be taking a new direction...

one that, as I look back once more, is a far better one than it was those last few years I was working.

And, I have faith that God will guide my path the remainder of my journey.

It won't always be easy; I won't always look to Him for guidance, as I know I should...

but in my heart I know He will be there for me;

as He was then,

as He is now,

and as He will be in my future!

ACCEPTANCE...

  1. Oh, it's so hard to accept things that seem unfair--and I'm glad that you have faith in a God who knows what's best for us. May you continue to see his hand in your life and accept his will as being in your best interest!

  4. These words...for Tuesdays @ Ten and Five Minute Fridays...really stretch my mind and my writing! Sometimes they come easily; other times I have to "ponder" it for a while before I can get something written! (Still pondering today's prompt for Fab-uary - "I am excellent at...").

    Thanks for reading and commenting!

  6. Thank you for sharing. Sometimes the hardest things to accept are those things that we are forced into. As TD Jakes wrote In order to truly heal and move forward, we must take responsibility for what we can and release what's beyond our control.
