Five Minute Friday: Wait

Once again it is Thursday night, and I will be linking up with Kate at http://katemotaung.com/ and all the other FMFers!  It's exciting to read what other bloggers write using the same word prompt...so, join us for the FMF Party!

Tonight's word is:  WAIT

Ready...

     Set...

          GO!

A few years ago, I read an article about "waiting" (or not waiting) - for the right moment to use your good China or best silver or your prettiest dress or show your favorite keepsakes...

That right moment may never come!

So...

Why wait?

Use your good China and best silver for an evening meal with your family;

Put on your prettiest dress and go to the movies or out to dinner with a friend;

Place your favorite keepsakes on the table so everyone can see them every day!

Why wait for the right moment -

NOW is the BEST MOMENT for showcasing your BEST!

And while you are not waiting -

Don't let the storm stop you from playing in the rain; go ahead and dance!  (I love this quote!)...

I think the next time it's raining - as long as it isn't cold, too! - I am going outside and DANCE IN THE RAIN!!

How about you?!

STOP.

    1. Sorry for delay in responding!! I have been off computer pretty much since Thurs. evening, with a quick "check-in" on Fri. morning before heading out to a scrapbooking retreat...had a BUSY but FUN weekend...

Thanks for reading - I don't remember in what relation I heard or read this, but it was impactive enought that it stuck in my brain!!

  2. I like this take too. Another reason to not wait: If you "wait" until the house is clean to invite someone over, it may never happen. Hospitality happens now. Good job. :)

    Hugs,
    Melinda (Visiting from FMF)

    1. I've been away from the computer since Thurs. evening - after posting this! Now I am back home and will be slowly catching up...

Somewhere in my "past" I read or heard that somewhere, enough that it stuck and when I saw the word "wait", it is what kept going around my brain. And yes, hospitality DOES happen now...I sure wouldn't turn somebody away!!

      Thanks for reading and commenting!

  3. I'll come dance with you, if I may?

I had books that I was saving for "the right time" to read...and then when my health went south I realized that I might not live long enough to read them!

Which would make me feel really, really stupid as I waited in line at the Pearly Gates.

    1. Andrew, Andrew...dance if you must...but please read those books!! I have many on my shelves too that I picked up thinking they sounded like a good to read - and I AM reading slowly but surely; but I keep coming across more while I am working my way through the stacks!

I have been away from the computer for the weekend, beginning after FMF Thur. night...I really do plan to run out in the rain the next time it rains, and splash in the puddles and maybe I WILL dance, too - join me the next time it rains at YOUR house!!

    1. Absolutely!! "Don't hide your light" - let it SHINE SHINE SHINE!!!

My weekend retreat is over - it goes soooooooo fast!! I had FUN; did a few projects - one BIG one...I took an old wooden shadow box and decorated it really cute (it was a challenge project; we were only give 4 dominoes and told to "make something with these"...I'll post a picture as soon as I get a battery for the camera!).

Thanks, as always, for reading and commenting!! Hope you had a blessed weekend!

  5. I like that! Along those same lines, I had a set of special bath goodies (bath salts, lotion, etc.) that I was saving. One day I was home alone and decided to clean out a closet. I came across that box and thought, "What am I waiting for? I'm home today and can take a bath AS LONG AS I WANT."

Yes, the idea of not waiting for the right moment, but taking this moment and making it perfect is just beautiful. Thanks for sharing this!

    1. You are welcome, Melissa! That sounds like something I'd LOVE to do now...the bath salts, lotion, bubbles, whatever! My whole body is aching from sitting, standing, leaning over - crafting ALL weekend from around 10:30 a.m. Friday 'til I put the last of my stuff in the car around 4:50 p.m. today!!

Thanks for reading and commenting...I'm headed for the tub!

  6. Oh, I wait too much. Now that you've mentioned it, I will not wait to use the pretty plates for a special day. I will put on that dress that just sits in my closet. Every day is special and I want to celebrate it not only on the holidays. My family deserves to celebrate every day that they are alive. Thank you for the reminders! Have a great weekend!

    1. Thanks Carrie! Yes, our family deserves to celebrate every day!! (I've been away from the computer since I posted FMF Thur. night - I attended a weekend scrapbooking retreat that started Fri. at 10 am - I arrived around 10:30 after a stop at the craft store; it just ended this evening at 5 pm - my car was loaded and I was home by 5:30)...so, I DID have a great weekend. Hope you did as well!

      Thanks for reading and commenting!

  7. Barbara,
this was great! I received that same advice and delight in using my "nice" dishes when we host dinner with others. I love how much life poured out of your graceful hands in just five short minutes. God truly is using you in large ways, though you may not feel that you are particularly impressive on your own. Please know that in His eyes, you are far greater than you see yourself.

    1. Thank you so much, Tammy - after a busy but FUN weekend, and I am exhausted and ready for a hot soaking bath and just to veg a bit!! - reading your sweet words made me tear up. I have been writing since I was a teenager; but except for my journal, haven't really done much lately...at least not until I discovered a couple of my friends' blogs, and THEN found out about the write31days challenge - then I wrote every day in October 2014 on Dementia's Demands...and have tried to follow different prompted writing blogs since then. I started out not thinking I was NOT a "writer" and didn't even think anyone would be interested in what I had to say...but received so many affirming, encouraging and touching comments, that I do continue to write!!

I appreciate your reading and commenting on my FMF word WAIT and will be trying to catch up on reading this week, including yours and others' posts on wait! And I also have my 2nd letter to get in the mail...sorry, but you ended up 7th on my list since I was 1st!!
