Simple Woman's Daybook - September 23, 2015

Linking up with

Well, because I just love linking up with Peggy and all the other "daybookers", I am posting my Simple Woman's Daybook - on Wednesday!  So...

FOR TODAY
September 23, 2015

Outside My Window:  Just a slight breeze, the weather is a bit cooler - but heats up in the afternoon!  And, wait!!  Is that a couple of reddish leaves on that tree outside?!  It must be FALL!

I am Hearing:  The chirping of the birds, outside that window above.

I am Thinking About:  So many things I need to be doing: reading and studying for a program in October; reading and pondering a faith journey kinda book we are doing as a committee (for the Pastor Search Committee); writing posts for "write31days" so I can be ahead of the game!

Making phone calls or writing e-mails for another committee...more posts to add to my blog: part 2 of "Gifts Found in September"; and probably, part 3 as well!

OK...enough!  I will get it all done - eventually!

I am Thankful for:  My church and the leadership that is shown during this transition time, as we consider an Interim Minister while pondering what we need/want in a permanent minister.

I am Praying for: Our church and the task assigned to the Pastoral Search Committee of finding an Interim Minister, and ultimately, a permanent minister.

I am Wearing:  A black and white striped night shirt and gray bottoms; and my always ever worn crocs!

I am Creating:  A "travel" layout for a page swap; we make the number of layouts as there are people participating...so, 20 layouts!  Getting all my stuff together, do some cutting this weekend, and put it all together at the retreat starting October 9th.

I am Going:  As I normally do on Mondays, I am doing laundry and some writing/typing and reading.  I have one errand: to pick up a prescription (and laundry detergent!)

Monday:  I spent a good part of the day visiting shops in a quaint area of town, asking for gift card or merchandise donations for our upcoming "Puppy Crop".  This event {if you haven't read any of my posts about Patriot Service Dogs} is a fund-raiser to support PSD; a non-profit organization that raises puppies to become service dogs for disabled veterans.  Check them out here.

Tuesday:  Doctor's appointment; picked up a gift card from Monday's task; stopped by another shop owned by a friend of my daughter to take paperwork for a donation request (she had previously agreed to make something up for us!); go to one of the stores I buy craft supplies from and get more adhesive...always seem to be running out! and rest until time to go to my weekly Pastor Search Committee.

Wednesday:  Laundry, maybe some organizing; but mostly writing and reading and...yeah, busy even though I am at home!  I may take off from choir rehearsal tonight since the choir will not be singing (a special service to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Children's Arts Center held at our church).

Thursday:  Probably will hang out at home - completing anything I didn't get done Wednesday - until around 3:30 when I'll go to my grandson's Karate "graduation".

Friday:  Attending a "Grandparent's Tea" for my four-year old grandson's preschool!

Saturday:  Scrapbooking with friends in the afternoon...we have projects to get ready for!

Sunday:  Attending the 10th Anniversary service for the Children's Art Center at Church; maybe lunch with the Sunday "lunch bunch", but need to keep a close eye on the finances so I have what I need during the retreat!

I am Wondering:  If I have taken on too much?!  Committees, projects, fund-raising, writing, reading...

I know I will get it all done; just beginning to be very tired and feeling over-whelmed!

I am Reading:  Still reading "Into the Darkest Corner" by Elizabeth Haynes, and I can hardly put it down!  I am over half finished reading and can't wait to turn page after page to see what happens next!

And, as I mentioned last week, she started writing fiction in 2006 with the annual challenge of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo).  I sent her a friend request, and posted how excited I was to see that on the back of the book jacket; and she actually wrote me back and asked if I was writing a book!!  Well, needless to say, I am not writing a book; but was encouraged that she even responded to my post!

Check out Elizabeth Haynes' website here for more information.

I am Excited for:  That I have been able to obtain several really good raffle items for our "Puppy Crop" the second weekend of October.  If I have time next week, I plan to try a few more shops!

I am Learning to:  What am I learning?  I still have not figured that out yet!

In My Kitchen:  Leftover spaghetti my daughter sent home with us...enough for 2 or 3 meals!

I am Pondering:  Same as I am wondering; but I need to "ponder" more so than "wonder"!  {Sound familiar?  Yes, I said the same thing last week!  Maybe I need to combine wonder/ponder; but they don't really mean the same thing!

A Fave Scripture Thought:  "Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet Your heavenly Father feeds them.  Are you not much more valuable than they?"  (Matthew 6:26 NIV).

He supplies all our needs!

    1. Thanks, Tara! I actually enjoy doing them...hence writing it on a Wednesday!

I need to get ahead of the game too for Write 31 Days...I know I said that in the post - I NEED to; but I haven't other than sketching out the first week or a bit more. Since I am doing it the Five Minute Friday "Free Writes" way, I feel it will be easier and better for me this year. Who knows what next year will bring!!

      Thanks for reading and commenting!

    1. Thanks, Christina! My grandson is a real "super hero"; karate was just the obvious choice for his "sport". His older brother plays baseball and does wrestling.

      Thanks for reading and commenting.

    1. Yes, ma'am! I'll be glad when my retreats get here! I need a rest...actually, I could use a vacation - away from all of it! A "spiritual" vacation would be awesome...and that retreat is coming up in Nov. although I will be "working" it!

Thanks for reading and commenting! Trying to get used to 5 for 5 before October gets here!

  4. Wow... I was wondering the same thing as I got to your "I'm Wondering" part! ;) God will give you energy and grace to get it done! I know some seasons are just full like that... I will pray that if you did indeed over-commit, He will graciously take things off your plate! He's good like that!

    1. Thank you, Karrilee! I know some of the "commitments" are not long-standing; others are...and I know He will give me the energy. I always do "get it done" but sometimes do wonder if it's "my best" - as in some of the posts I really want to write; and then wonder if I should have given it more time, even if it's "late".

Appreciate your reading and commenting...I have been trying to be more actively "reading" others' posts...you know, getting ready for October!!
